The faint glow of the candle’s dying flame did little to light the area, casting a dim glow throughout the room. Lounging back atop his throne Gaek gave a bored sigh, hanging his leg lazily across the large stone arm rest. Resting his chin atop his large fist, Gaek’s sharp angular features twisted into a grin as he stared off into the darkness; everything was going according to plan.
As the only male born to the Gerudo tribe in the past 100 years, Gaek was named king and exalted above all others as a god-like being. In the eyes of the Gerudo women, Gaek could do no wrong. They followed and served him as if he truly were a god. Gaek chuckled softly to himself his large shoulders rising and falling rhythmically.
They think I’m a god…little do they know before this month is up I will be the one and only God.
Yes…the one and true God you shall be…with all paying homage to you. The dark voice of the Book echoed in his head, causing his smile to broaden.
Reaching over the edge of his throne, Gaek ran his fingertips along the dark leather binding of the Book of Shadows. The Book was never far from the Gerudo King, it was the source of his power and the stepping stone he would use to create his perfect world.
A knock echoed throughout the room and, after a small grunt from the Gerudo King, a group of female Gerudo tribeswomen entered. Bowing before Gaek they pressed their foreheads to the ground. “Great King, the items you requested earlier have been located and are being rushed here with all haste.”
Chuckling once again, Gaek swung down off of the throne and grasped the Book of Shadows. “Good, everything is in place…perhaps it’s time I make the first move and start our little game.”
Yes, the time has come…take that which is rightfully yours! [/b]
Raising a large hand into the air, Gaek began to chant, channeling the power of the Book. Dark energy swirled about his hand before consuming it entirely. From amidst the darkness, frightening creatures sprang forth. Their skin was darker than the deepest black, an obsidian tint that seemed to writhe with each movement the creatures made. Mouths filled with sharp jagged teeth opened wide to illicit frightening, gurgled cries of rage. The women bowing before Gaek knew better than to scatter away and held their positions.
“Go,” Gaek said with a small hint of humor in his voice. “Take all that they hold dear.”
The creatures let loose another gathering of howls before dashing off for their location, their claw-like feet clattering against the stone floor with each step.
And now…it begins…
Your Reign…as God of your own world [/b].

Soft fair skinned lids slowly fluttered open revealing two clear sky blue eyes. Sunlight poured in through the cracks in Link’s window as if gently shaking him awake to start the day. Nuzzling his head against his pillow, Link tried desperately to get as much enjoyment out of the next few seconds. Rolling onto his back the young blonde hylian boy lifted himself out of bed. Rubbing the sleep out of his eyes with the back of his hand, Link yawned as he looked about his room. Eyeing his soft leather shoes in the corner the young boy slid off of his bed and plodded over to the corner where they rested. After pulling the rest of his daily work clothes on, Link slipped the shoes on and grabbed placed the small plaid cap on his head.
Pale blonde-brown locks fluttered across his brow and Link gave a small huff, banishing the tresses from his face for a few brief moments. Grabbing his small belt knife from the dresser beside his bed, the young hylian slipped it into its proper place at his waist and headed down the stairs. It wouldn’t take Link long to make his way out of his home, his grandfather had gone away some time ago and left Link to take care of the place. As per his grandfather’s wishes, Link had kept the house in good condition and made sure it was always clean, a chore that most young men his age could not accomplish.
Making his way through the village, Link wished all those he saw a good morning even going so far as to help a few of the villagers with a few of their chores; his weren’t very extensive and he had nothing better to do. When all had been seen to within the village, Link made his way into the surrounding woods. Despite the fact that Kamikaz Village had been his home all of his life, Link frequented the woods as often as he could. There was nothing quite as fulfilling as living off of the land, it was as if he had been born to do it.
Several minutes would pass before Link reached his desired location, the small Pallu tree near the lake. Reaching up, Link plucked a Pallu fruit from the tree before settling down beside the water’s reflective surface. Sinking his teeth into the succulent fruit, Link surveyed the area trying to spot where HE might be hiding this time.
It was not uncommon for Sheik to sneak up on him and surprise him; the other young man said it was a good way for Link to ‘stay on his toes.’ A small wooden sword rested against the Pallu tree, some might have thought it childish to play with toy swords; Link was not one of those people. Since early childhood he and Sheik had spent hours upon hours playing in these woods, learning the finer points of “wooden combat.”
Taking one last bite of his Pallu fruit, Link used his belt knife to dig a hole and buried the core near the lake. With any luck, another Pallu tree would sprout next season. Giving his second yawn of the morning, Link laid back and stared up at the sky; life was good.
