Alright so 1944 isn't exactly Modern but it's where it's going for now. Here is some useful info.
People who sign onto the RP will sign on as Students during the year of 1944, a year after the events that lead to Myrtle's death. Feel free to NPC as many people as you like even a canon character, but if you do please make sure it remains true to the character. Any spells you use please make sure they really exist (Spell Encyclopedia) Please make sure that the spell you use existed in 1944, this means that many of the spells developed my Snape ( as seen in HBP) are out. Just use your judgement and if you have any questions just drop me a line.
Before hopping into the RP you'll need to pick a house,
Gryffindor: Those with Courage Gryffindor values courage, chivalry and boldness. Its animal is the lion, and its colours are scarlet and gold. Nearly Headless Nick is the house ghost. The founder of the house is Godric Gryffindor.
Hufflepuff: Those with Personality Hufflepuff, founded by Helga Hufflepuff, values hard work, loyalty, determination, patience, friendship and fair play rather than a particular aptitude in its members. Its animal is the badger, and canary yellow and black are its colours. The Fat Friar is its ghost.
Ravenclaw: Those with intelligence Ravenclaw values intelligence, knowledge and wit. Its animal is the eagle, and its colours are blue and bronze. No Ravenclaw house ghost is directly mentioned in the books; however, the Harry Potter movies name her as the Grey Lady. The house was founded by Rowena Ravenclaw
Slytherin: Those with ambition Like Salazar Slytherin, its founder, Slytherin house values ambition, cunning and resourcefulness. Its emblematic animal is the serpent, and its colours are green and silver. The Bloody Baron is the house ghost
As Far as Wands go: ( Some useful info
Since we're all at Hogwarts your wands will most likely have been made by Ollivander so it will have one of three basic core:
Unicorn Hair
Phoenix Tail Feather
Dragon Heartstring
It is also made out of wood, The wood, as it turns out, is of some significance. It can actually correspond to your character's birth month...(this is what Rowling did) and here is the chart she used.
Dec 24-Jan 20: Birch
Jan 21-Feb 17: Rowan
Feb 18-March 17: Ash
March 18-April 14: Alder
April 15-May 12: Willow
May 13-June 9 :Hawthorn
June 10-July 9: Oak

Wand Length: Keep it under 2 ft (24 inches)
Familiar: Each Wizard/Witch is usually given an animal either as a messenger or as a companion. SO far we've seen:
Owls
Cats
Rats
Toads
I'd prefer we keep the familiar's we've seen in the books and movies and not come up with out own, at least for now. Thankies ^_^
